I was trying to post every other day, but I dropped that ball. Anyway, the first week of dieting went great, believe it or not. It was a little hard sometimes but we got through it. I've found that sausage salads are a fast meal. It's what it sounds like, some ground sausage on top of a salad. It's pretty tasty if you're not picky. I'm working on a combination of weight watchers and Atkins in that I try to avoid carbs but if ash cooks some I'll eat them appropriately. I have been weighing at the gym so I won't know how much I've lost till tomorrow.
For exercise I've been going to the gym. I went twice last week so that i wouldn't get too sore and not be able to go back for a while. I meant to go yesterday but we spent most of the day out of town and the evening we spent babysitting our flower girl and ring bearer. I'm really proud of Ashley and her determination on this life change. I had to convince her that a day rest would benefit her after 3 days of some brutal cardio. She's hitting the diet like a champ; she definitely motivates me to stay on track. I'm so thankful I met such a great girl and that she agreed to put up with me forever.
I'll post hopefully in a few days with an update of weight loss that hopefully occured. School starts a week from Tuesday but I have to go in to work starting tomorrow. Goodbye, my last academic break. Also, take this forthcoming snow with you (thus is supposed to be the south)!

New Years Day
Well once again it's Jan 1. I managed to stay awake last night till midnight but forgot that there was a countdown going on; my bride and I went to my best friend Zack's house and did a little celebrating.
I don't think i mentioned this in my first post but I'm writing these blogs on my new iPad that ashley gave me for Christmas! She definitely spoiled me this year.
Anyway, the goal was to start losing weight today, but between recovering from last night and the holiday I didn't make it to the gym. Will try tomorrow though. Ash did make a grocery run to get some healthy food and to fill the fridge since we hadn't grocery shopped since the first week in December. She came up with this awesome idea to buy a pork roast, one of the long ones, and cut it up into 4's. It feeds us perfectly, plus giving us 3 more meals. It works out to only $2.50 a meal for the meat. We added some carrots and fresh brewed tea to make a great dinner. She also made us an amazing chicken salad for lunch earlier today when she got back. She complains that she's not a good cook but really everything she's ever made has cow out great! So at least we ate well even if we couldn't make it to the gym.
Sadly, she has to return to work on Monday, so it looks like our honeymoon is finally over. I love being able to spend all day with her; she's so much fun!
I guess thats it for now... AFV is more entertaining right now.

New blog for new goals!
12 days ago I became the happiest man on earth. I got to marry my amazing girlfriend of 3.5 years. This girl has helped to define the man I am today. She has showed me how to be a good person as well as how to be a great man. We had a beautiful ceremony here in Fayetteville; I couldn't have made her more gorgeous than she was when she walked down the aisle. I am incredibly blessed with her.
Since we got back from our honeymoon in Chicago we decided to start a weight loss program together so that we could be healthier for each other. We set goals and a reward if we make it. I'll leave it to her () to tell you about hers. For me however, I want to get down to 230lbs. That leaves only 70'ish (on the high side) to go!
In an effort to be more accountable to ourselves, I suggested that we create separate blogs to update on a fairly regular basis about our progress, trials, and victories. The "program" will commence on January 1, 2011. This blog is not just about weight loss, but also for daily thoughts and comments.
As of now this is only for her and I to look back on, but might eventually be turned loose on the rest of the web tubes. If it is, then God bless those who read these random blurbs from the mind of a new husband, current fat kid, and worst of all: a spent engineering grad student.
